Course Descriptions

 

Plasma Cam / Ornamental Iron Work / Welding and Design: This course is for artists and hobbyists. It teaches introductory welding skills, including basic cutting and bending.

 

Introduction to Lathe and Machining: This course introduces students to basic lathe and machining principles.

 

Master Electricians: This course requires a total of 150 classroom hours and prepares students for the Master Electrician licensure examination.

 

Journeyman Electricians: This course requires a total of 600 classroom hours and prepares students for the Journeyman Electrician licensure examination.

 

Introductory Carpentry: This basic woodworking/cabinetry course has students working on their own individual projects.

 

Intermediate Carpentry: This woodworking course allows the students to expand their basic woodworking / carpentry skills.

 

Beginning AutoCAD: Students will learn to create, edit, manipulate, analyze and annotate 2D drawings in a production environment.

 

Intermediate AutoCAD: Students will learn to use commands such as paper space, Xrefs, blocks and dimensions to increase production-drawing output. Students will also be introduced to Raster imaging and Internet use of AutoCAD.

 

ServSafe: This course will prepare students for the ServSafe test for certification for the foods industry.

 

Welding: Students have an opportunity to use MIG, TIG, and ARC from a beginning level through an advanced level.

 

G.E.D. Preparation: This course prepares students for the G.E.D. examination.

 

Microsoft Office: This course introduces students to Word, Excel and Access.

 

Small Engine Repair: Students will learn combustion engine repair and maintenance.

 

SCUBA: This is an NAUI approved SCUBA diving course, which meets or exceeds industry standards.

 

High School Math 12: This course is the equivalent of a grade 12 mathematics course. Students who complete this course will be awarded high school mathematics credit.

 

High School English 12: This course is the equivalent of a grade 12 English course. Students who successfully complete this course will be awarded high school English credit.

 

Business Planning: This business planning training course provides a thorough grounding in how to create, measure and implement a business plan.

 

MCAS English and Math: These courses are to improve the student’s reading and writing or math skills in preparation for the MCAS test.
