Academic Decathlon Advisor

Mr. Jendrysik

Purpose:

An academic competition consisting of teams of 9 students who attempt to score the most points on a series of 10 test events.  The top 3 individual students scoring highest in any specific category are awarded gold, solver, and bronze medals respectively.  The 10 academic events include an unprepared speech, an interview, a written essay, music, math, science, economics, literature, fine arts, and the Super Quiz is the last event.  The Super Quiz is a team attempting to answer the most questions correctly regarding the Super Quiz topic.  The two highest scoring teams in the Western Massachusetts are continue on to compete against schools from the eastern part of the state in the Massachusetts Academic Decathlon.  The winning Massachusetts team competes at the National Competition in April.  

Meeting Times:     Tuesdays, after school

Dues/Fees:             None

Season:                   May-June, September-November, and November-April if the team    advances to the State and National Finals
